When I was young my Mum & Grandma's taught me to crochet, knit, sew, bake, rag rug and a hundred other skills which I took for granted at the time, but since then these traditional crafts I learned have stayed in my heart.
I didn't think of using these skills as my source of income because throughout my academic years "helpful" careers advisers told me I needed a proper job in an office with computers & business profiles. I kept my talents for making gifts for friends & family instead. However as I grew older & started a family, I began to understand the importance of a work/life balance & about loving the job you do. So it's with the support of my family & friends that Maisielu grew, bringing uniquely crafted jewellery, homeware, accessories, and children's gifts, to all those who would like something that the high street cannot offer - high quality hand-made items each lovingly made with the highest of care and attention to detail.

I live with my biggest supporters & inspirations; my husband Stuart & 2 children Maisie & Lucas, in Carlisle nestled between The Lake District and Scottish Border.
I am influenced by my amazing surroundings, Gustav Klimt, anything sparkling, soulful music, Flickr photography, Frida Kahlo, street art, Andy Goldworthy and the beautiful array of fashion styles that people come up with on their own without being told by the media its cool.
I love to recycle & use lot of vintage or re-purposed items in my crafts and where possible I will state the exact origins of every piece used, sometimes I map out the process of a piece through my blog which you can visit through the link in the menu.
